Using Microsoft Copilot In PowerPoint

I have been using Microsoft Copilot for several months and I am officially on the gen-AI bandwagon as a result. In late January, I decided to purchase a subscription to Copilot Pro which is Microsoft's generative AI product aimed at individuals (similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT premium) and my initial reaction was: meh! The day I purchased my subscription, it actually would not respond to prompts across any of the apps that I tried using it in including Word, PowerPoint and OneNote. Like any frustrated customer, I decided to hit up Microsoft support on X to share my frustration and dissatisfaction and seek out a refund. Fortunately for me, it took them a week to respond and in that time man, did Copilot really make me eat my messages to Microsoft Support. While, Copilot in theory isn't drastically different than ChatGPT, what really sets it apart, is the ability to engage with it directly in Microsoft Apps. I can't count the number of times, I've had to prepare a presentation or report only to open Word or PowerPoint and stare at a blank slide or doc for hours. Well, I can say goodbye to that issue thanks to Copilot. Using Copilot, you can generate entire PowerPoint presentations from nothing more than a 1-2 sentence prompt. Sure, you still need to fact check the info but, getting started with any task is always half the battle. Need to summarize a PowerPoint that you've put together to distill the key messages? No problem, ask Copilot to do it for you. And the list of use cases goes on and on. But, don't just take my word for it, check it out for yourself in this video that demonstrates the power of Copilot in PowerPoint.

Massive Change Coming To Microsoft Teams...Sort Of

Up until two weeks ago, a massive change was on it's way to Microsoft Teams that in my view was not getting the attention that it deserved. Microsoft was going to be deprecating the classic Microsoft Teams app on March 31 and would be force upgrading users to the new version. Now, if you have been using the new Teams app, you might be thinking why is this a big deal? It's a big deal because many organizations have been reluctant to switch to the new app for a myriad of reasons such as a lack of feature parity (which Microsoft claims they've addressed), and software defects to name a few. Further, organizations also typically don't like short notice to implement technology changes (even though Microsoft first announced this in Fall 2023). Well, it seems that these organizations have made enough noise to cause Microsoft to defer the change. You can read more about the updated timeline here and if you want to understand more about the massive change that is coming to Microsoft Teams (just not so soon), then check out this video.
